Overnight with Chrissy Teigen for Kroger
We shot this campaign for Kroger with Chrissy Teigen back in March. It was my first shoot where we worked overnight. Generally, any commercials shot in a grocery store, pharmacy, or big box store are done overnight so as not to interfere with business during operating hours.
Our call time was 9:00 PM and we had to be completely out of the store by 6:00 AM when they opened. We shared the store and Chrissy with the commercial team, which was directed by the talented, fabulous, and extremely sweet Symone Ridgell.
Chrissy Teigen was such a pro. The producers would have her start with motion, then come to us for stills for a few minutes, and then go back to motion. It went like this all night long. She never complained and was always smiling and having a good time.
My favorite part of the night was the very last shot. We had just a few minutes to get this final shot before they had to wrap everyone. She was sitting in the aisleway, and I told her my idea of having her walk down the aisle like it was a catwalk. She said, 'Honey, I can't stand anymore,' and I immediately dropped to the floor with her and told her not to worry at all—that we could shoot this last image just how she was.

This was the first photo I shot of Chrissy. I managed to get about three frames before the DP entered my frame. This was the only image I was able to capture while shooting with motion.
