DTLA Love

I've been doing test shoots ever since I started in commercial photography. It's a way to make the kind of work you love and hopefully get hired for later. I had this idea for a cool young couple just doing their thing at night in downtown LA. Not super cute or date-like, just cool people living their life on a normal night.

I worked with my assistant Chiara to find the perfect spots that really show off LA. We were just hoping we wouldn't get kicked out like when we were scouting.

When the shoot night came, it went even better than I thought it would. Test shoots are always tough because you're in charge of everything - the creative stuff, production, taking photos, and directing the models. It's all on you. We started at 7:00pm and went until 1:00am. I was worried people might get tired, but everyone had such a great time and I loved what we made!
